"Fried" Tofu (for stir fry, buffalo wraps and MORE!)
INGREDIENTS
1 16-oz block extra-firm tofu 453 g
Basic recipe marinade:
2 Tbsp soy sauce 30 mL
1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil* 15 mL
1 Tbsp olive oil 15 mL
1 clove garlic minced
OR
Toss in 2 Tbsp olive oil and sprinkle all over with your favorite seasoning like curry powder or garlic and herb or taco seasoning. - Anything goes!!
INSTRUCTIONS
Press: Press tofu for at least 15 minutes, using a towel and setting a heavy pan on top of it, letting the moisture drain. When finished, cut tofu into bite-sized blocks and transfer to a bowl.
Flavor: Combine all remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Drizzle over tofu and toss to coat. Let tofu marinate for an additional 15 minutes.
AirFry: Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 C). Add tofu blocks to your air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally to promote even cooking.
PanFry: Sauté in oil over medium heat for about 6-8 minutes or until browned on all sides (shaking the pan as needed to cook all sides).
NOTES
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 4 to 5 days. To reheat, pop them back in the air fryer or a pan for a few minutes.
When I made the buffalo wraps we just used the basic marinade and when I was ready to use the "fried" tofu a few days later I just tossed in back in a pan and heated it up with buffalo sauce! Served with tortilla wraps, lettuce, tomatoes, vegan ranch and a little more buffalo sauce. AMAZING!
